Common questions
How do I make up a missed prayer?
Pray it as soon as you remember it, and do not delay it without a reason. If several prayers were missed, pray them in their order when you can. The counters under “To make up” help you keep count of how many are left.
Does a woman make up prayers missed during her period?
No. She does not make up the prayers she missed during menstruation or postnatal bleeding, but she does make up the fasts she missed. This is what ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported in Sahih Muslim.
Do I have to make up the fasts I missed in Ramadan?
Yes. Whoever breaks the fast for a valid reason, such as illness, travel or menstruation, makes up the same number of days after Ramadan (Quran 2:184-185). The counter for fasts helps you track them.
Which voluntary fasts are recommended?
Mondays and Thursdays, the three white days (13th, 14th and 15th of each Hijri month), the day of ʿArafah, the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ (with the 9th or 11th of Muharram) and six days of Shawwal.
How much Quran should I read each day?
There is no fixed amount. The Prophet ﷺ said that the most beloved deeds to Allah are the most regular ones, even if small (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). A little every day is better than a lot now and then.
